Bengaluru’s busiest hubs deserted
BENGALURU:
Sunday’s statewide lockdown, meant to slow down the worrying rise in coronavirus infections, was by and large complied with by citizens.
Most of Bengaluru’s roads, including at Majestic, Malleswaram, Tumkur Road, Mysore Road, Bellary Road and Mekhri Circle, were empty. All major flyovers had been barricaded by the police.
The KSRTC and BMTC bus stations at the always busy Majestic hub were deserted, and other than autorickshaws no other vehicles were seen.
The Muzarai Department had order closure of all temples. On the eve of Guru Purnima, devotees had gathered near temples but had to return as all temples were shut.
Other districts quiet
The lockdown was strictly maintained in Mangaluru district. The police issued megaphone warnings against unnecessary movement in Bellary, Belagavi, Hassan and Yadagiri districts.
Bus stations were empty in Tumkur and Raichur districts, autos did not hit the road, and hotels only offered parcels.
