Bengaluru: A public plaza and resting zone being developed beneath the Silk Board flyover was among the works reviewed as Bengaluru South City Corporation sought faster completion of drainage, sanitation and pedestrian infrastructure around the busy Hosur Road junction.
Additional Commissioner Dr. Naveen Kumar Raju and local MLA Satish Reddy inspected the works, according to a corporation release issued on October 27. The plaza is being developed jointly by the civic body and Janaagraha NGO; officials were directed to maintain quality and create a public-friendly space.
Drain works and waste clearance at Silk Board
At the stormwater-drain project site, the Additional Commissioner directed engineers to expedite pending construction. Officials were also told to immediately remove floating garbage from drains so water could flow freely.
Construction and demolition debris remaining around Silk Board Junction must be cleared completely, he instructed.
Restore footpaths affected by Metro construction
BMRCL officials were directed to systematically rebuild and restore footpaths disrupted by Metro construction along the stretch. At the Hosur Road U-turn, officials were asked to properly align temporary medians to improve motorist safety and ease congestion.
The Additional Commissioner called for coordination among the agencies and completion of works within the specified timeframe while minimising inconvenience to the public. The release did not specify a completion or opening date for the plaza.
Chief Engineer Malathi, Executive Engineer Ravi, Assistant Executive Engineer Santhosh and other officials attended the inspection.
