HUBBALLI: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has publicly supported the Governor’s decision to take action against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is currently facing corruption allegations. Joshi emphasized the importance of upholding the law and the Constitution, especially for those in positions of power. He commended the Governor for his measured and appropriate response to the situation.
In a statement to the media in Hubballi, Joshi stated that the Governor has granted permission for the prosecution of Siddaramaiah in relation to the corruption charges. He urged the Chief Minister to fully cooperate with the investigation, which will be carried out by either the Lokayukta or local authorities.
Joshi also reminded Siddaramaiah of the precedent set by former Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, who resigned on moral grounds when faced with similar allegations. He suggested that Siddaramaiah could pursue legal action if he so desired, as the Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to seek legal recourse.
The union minister stressed the importance of maintaining integrity in public life to uphold democracy. He called on Siddaramaiah to resign and cooperate with the investigation to restore public trust.
Joshi clarified that no central agencies are involved in the investigation, as the state government is responsible for addressing the allegations through the Lokayukta.
Questioning Siddaramaiah’s reluctance to cooperate with the probe, Joshi highlighted the Chief Minister’s claims of transparency and integrity in his political career. If Siddaramaiah truly has nothing to hide, Joshi questioned why he would fear an investigation into the corruption allegations.
