Mandya: Instructions have been issued to take the necessary steps to open a 100-bed hospital and a Jayadeva cardiac hospital in Mandya, D K Shivakumar said in a statement outlining health and development measures for the district.
The details were shared in a post late on Saturday, summarising his remarks after laying the foundation stone for development works on the Mandya University campus. He said the Cabinet had approved ₹115 crore for an agricultural university in the district and ₹60 crore for a boiler unit at the MySugar factory.

Shivakumar also said a 100-bed mother-and-child hospital in Hosur was ready for inauguration.
On irrigation, he said a decision had been taken to provide about ₹806 crore to fill lakes in Pandavapura, Nagamangala and K R Pet and repair canals. He said the government had worked to extend water from KRS to Malavalli, Maddur and the district’s outlying areas.
About ₹224 crore had been provided for development in Mandya, Maddur, Srirangapatna and Pandavapura taluks, he said. He also cited ₹420 crore for an electricity transmission centre at Hampapura–Nagamangala.
Referring to the sugarcane-price dispute, Shivakumar said he had spent two days in Belagavi trying to resolve farmers’ concerns. The state was pressing the Centre to increase sugar prices, he said, adding that securing a suitable price for farmers was its responsibility.
