Car hits divider, then 2 other cars collide

BENGALURU:

In a deadly multiple-car accident on Friday near Byaladakere in Kunigal taluk, Tumkur, a speeding car lost control and collided with a road divider, following which another car collided with a speeding car in front of the toppled car. As a result, 12 persons died on the spot.

The accident happened at around 3 am. The car that hit the road divider was from Tamil Nadu and was said to be returning from Dharmasthala. It is learnt that there were four youths from Bengaluru in the car that came in front of them.

The victims travelling in the SUV have been identified as Manjunath (35), Tanuja (25), a one-year-old girl, Gauramma (60), Ratnamma (52), Rajendra (27), Sundar Raj (48), Saritha (32) and Prasanya (14).

The other victims were identified as Laxmikant (24), Sandeep (36) and Madhu (28).

Among those injured were Shweta, Arpita, Malashree, Gangotri and Prakash. They have been shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru. The condition of two of the four injured persons is serious. The incident took place in the Amruthur police station limits.
