Karnataka’s vaccination coverage to cross 3 crore soon: Sudhakar

BENGALURU:

All teaching and non-teaching staff of all government, aided and unaided schools will be vaccinated on priority as a safety measure, Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said on Thursday.

Children cannot rely on online classes ‘forever’, and schools will have to reopened sooner or later, the Minister told mediapersons.

School staff will be accorded priority for vaccination, as most parents and kin of students have already been vaccinated, the Minister said. He claimed that the state’s vaccination coverage would cross 3 crore doses in a few days.

Around 5% of the total cases in the state are being subjected to genomic sequencing to look for new variants, and the information is shared with ICMR, Dr Sudhakar said.
