Rs 30 lakh each to kin of 3 cops who died of Covid

BENGALURU:

Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has declared compensation of Rs 30 lakh to each of the families of the three Bengaluru policemen who have succumbed to the coronavirus. 

“The police have a major responsibility in patrolling containment areas, and face a greater risk of infection,” Bommai noted on Wednesday.     

Hospitals for cops

Five Covid-19 hospitals have been identified for providing exclusive treatment to infected policemen  in Bengaluru.  Besides, more tests need to be conducted on police personnel. “I have spoken to the ACS (Health) about this and they are going to provide a separate hospital testing unit,” he said.

Besides, the Home Department has issued an order for special provisions to police personnel to boost their morale and safeguard their health.
