Bengaluru, Mar. 11: Bengaluru West City Corporation Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K.V. has directed officials to identify locations across all divisions where road widening is required in order to reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility in the city.

During a progress review meeting on CMIDP and CSSIP projects, the Commissioner instructed officials to immediately take up pending works within the corporation limits and ensure they are completed within the stipulated timeframe. He noted that tenders for these projects have already been approved and emphasised that there should be no delay in execution.

Dr. Rajendra K.V. also directed Divisional Executive Engineers to remain present at project sites and closely monitor the quality of works. Officials were instructed to strictly follow the standards and guidelines specified in the corporation’s “Namma Raste Kaipidi” to ensure quality infrastructure development.

Road Safety Measures

Emphasising road safety, the Commissioner ordered that speed humps should be constructed only at required locations and strictly in a scientific manner, with proper markings. Existing unscientific speed humps must be removed and replaced only where necessary.

Pedestrian Safety Initiatives

To improve pedestrian safety, the TEC wing was directed to install zebra crossings at key locations, particularly in areas with heavy traffic movement.

Public Infrastructure Maintenance

Officials were also instructed to ensure regular maintenance of skywalks and bus shelters across the city corporation limits and maintain cleanliness so that they remain safe and convenient for public use.

The meeting was attended by the Superintendent Engineer, Executive Engineers of all divisions, and other senior officials of the corporation.
