Riots: Crime Branch questions Congress MLA
‘They’ (rivals) want to finish me, Srinivas Murthy tells media
BENGALURU:
As part of the investigations into last week’s city riots, MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy was questioned for around 2 hours by Central Crime Branch DCP Ravikumar at the police commissioner’s office on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters later, a teary-eyed Murthy said ‘they’ had planned to finish his political career. “I didn’t think they would do this to me. They should have faced me politically. Lots of property papers have been burnt. They even made plans to burn me alive. If I contest as an independent candidate, I will win. I have my people,” he said.
“My wife and children are all on the streets today from this incident. No matter how much I earned, I didn’t benefit. Our party people are hurting me… I was good with all corporators… I have never hurt anyone,” he said.
He added, “Even in tenders I have not cheated. Kaleem Pasha was fine with me, calling me ‘brother’. I don’t know how he also hated me.”
