Restaurant manager allegedly kidnaps, robs his employer

The High Grounds police have arrested 9 persons for allegedly kidnapping a restaurant owner and robbing him of Rs 26 lakh in cash and an expensive Audi car.

The accused include Sharath Kumar, manager of Cafe Restaurant in High Grounds.

They allegedly abducted the restaurant owner Abhinav Singhal on New BEL Road on May 13, assaulted him in a warehouse on Bannerghatta Road, robbed him of his car, jewellery and Rs 26 lakh in cash, and threatened to kill members of his family if he went to the police.

An FIR was first lodged at the Sadashivanagar police station, but on Singhal’s complaint that the accused had been summoned and sent away by the police, the case was transferred to the High Grounds police, said Central Division DCP Chetan Singh Rathod.
