Bengaluru, March 13: The HSR Layout Police Station in Bengaluru City has cracked a house theft case and arrested two accused persons from Udayagiri in Mysuru, recovering stolen valuables worth approximately ₹15 lakh, including gold and silver ornaments, a two-wheeler and a mobile phone.

According to the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, the case came to light after a resident of 25th Cross under the jurisdiction of HSR Layout Police Station lodged a complaint on February 11, 2026. The complainant stated that he had locked his house on February 10 in the afternoon and left for work. When he returned at night, he discovered that unknown persons had broken open the front door and stolen about 30 grams of gold ornaments kept in a cupboard inside the house.

Based on the complaint, police registered a house theft case at HSR Layout Police Station and launched an investigation.

During the course of the probe, police gathered credible information from informants and detained two suspects on February 21, 2026 from Udayagiri in Mysuru. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to committing the theft and also admitted involvement in other similar offences within the jurisdictions of HSR Layout and Banaswadi Police Stations in Bengaluru.

On February 21, the accused were produced before the court and were remanded to 15 days of police custody for further interrogation.

During detailed questioning, the accused revealed that the stolen gold ornaments had been pledged at Manappuram Gold Company in Mangammanapalya and at Sristar Gold Company in Mysuru, while some items had been handed over to two other individuals known to them.

Acting on this information, police conducted recovery operations between February 21 and March 2, 2026, recovering a total of 95 grams of gold ornaments, 88 grams of silver items, ₹2,000 cash, one mobile phone and a two-wheeler used in the crime. The recovered items were seized from the pledged locations and from the individuals who had received the stolen ornaments.

Police stated that the total value of the recovered property is estimated at ₹15 lakh.

Further investigation revealed the involvement of the accused in five theft cases, including two house theft cases and one two-wheeler theft case registered at HSR Layout Police Station, and two house theft cases registered at Banaswadi Police Station.

On March 5, 2026, the accused were again produced before the court and were remanded to judicial custody.

Police said the successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Mohammed Sujeeth, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-East Division, and under the leadership of Vasudev V.K., Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madiwala Sub-Division, by the Inspector and staff of HSR Layout Police Station, who solved the case through coordinated investigation and recovery efforts.
