Chikkamagaluru/Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has addressed speculation over internal dissent within the Congress, stating that his Political Secretary Naseer Ahmed has not resigned so far, though he hinted that such a possibility cannot be ruled out.
Responding to media queries on whether a wave of resignations by party dissenters has begun, Siddaramaiah clarified that Naseer Ahmed continues in his position as of now. “He has not resigned yet; he may or may not,” the Chief Minister remarked.
On the issue of internal differences within the party, Siddaramaiah asserted that despite instances of anti-party activities, the Congress remains confident of victory in the upcoming by-election. He stressed that electoral outcomes are not the sole basis for disciplinary action or leadership decisions.
Referring to comments made by senior leader Saleem Ahmed, the Chief Minister said that Ahmed had only expressed concern over alleged anti-party activities during the Davanagere South by-election and had not predicted a defeat for the party.
Siddaramaiah reiterated that the Congress is not conceding defeat and is fully confident of securing victory in the bypoll, even amid internal challenges.
