DAVANGERE: The police have arrested three among 10 accused who allegedly stripped a 10-year-old boy naked, tied him to a tree and brutally assaulted and tortured him by releasing ants on him on April 4, at Astpanahalli village in Channagiri taluk.
The boy was accused of stealing and misbehaving with women. His relatives, including his uncle, assaulted him inhumanely. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking public outrage.
The Channagiri police registered a case as soon as the news of the assault was aired on Public TV. The police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the boy’s grandfather. The accused have been booked under various sections.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Subhash (23), Lucky (21), Darshan (22), Parashu (25), Shivadarshan (23), Harish (25), Patti Raju (20), Bhuni (18), and Sudhan a.k.a Madhusudhan (30) of the village. Of the ten accused, three people have already been arrested, while the police are on the lookout for the rest.
