PSI recruitment scam: IPS officer Amrit Paul granted conditional bail

The Karnataka High Court granted conditional bail to senior IPS officer Amrit Paul in connection with the PSI recruitment scam.

Paul cannot travel abroad without court permission, must not influence witnesses.

The court directed that two sureties should be provided with a bond worth 5 lakhs.

After one year and two months of arrest, Amrit Paul seems to have got bail.

The written examination for the recruitment of 545 PSIs was held at 92 centers on October 3, 2021. After the PSI recruitment scam came out, 110 people including 52 candidates who wrote the exam were arrested.

Amrit Paul is alleged to have received Rs 1.35 crore from aspirants for the post of PSI. During the investigation, it came to light that this money was given to his assistant and benami Shambulinga Swami. CID had seized Rs 41 lakh from him.
