Integrate state highways and district arterial roads with national highways, instructs Bommai

BENGALURU:

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has instructed officials to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) on the resurfacing of 1,008 km of state highways which have completed their lifespan. These highways were developed by KSHIP, SHDP and KRDL.

The CM issued these instructions at a meeting on Wednesday to review the work of the Public Works Department.

Road development projects should be prepared according to public needs and traffic density, and the funds granted should be utilised optimally, Bommai said.

Uniform rate chart

A uniform standard rate chart for all the engineering departments in the state is being implemented under the Public Works Department. Accordingly, the Chief Minister wanted officials to prepare a uniform rate chart for all the building materials being used in government buildings.

State highways and district arterial roads should be integrated with the national highways, and a master plan should be prepared accordingly, Bommai instructed the PWD officials.

The Chief Minister also instructed the officials to take up work on the first phase of the Karnataka Residential Complex on the land owned by the Karnataka government in Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh at a cost of Rs 45 crore.

PWD minister CC Patil and senior officials of the department were present.
