Bengaluru: Bengaluru South City Corporation Additional Commissioner Dr Naveen Kumar Raju has directed officials to address Pourakarmika welfare grievances, wage issues and delays in benefits after meeting union leaders on Thursday.
Officials were told to respond to calls from workers and the public, or return calls later if they could not answer during duty hours. The corporation will verify and distribute identity cards to employees and CUG SIM cards to officers and staff, according to the release.
Pending permanent-recruitment files are being cleared after technical errors in employee details, UAN records and biometric data were corrected. Assistant general managers must submit a report within a week covering 19 service parameters, including ward-wise service length and attendance.
Raju directed officials to correct HRMS-related salary arrears and biometric deductions and release pending dues through DC bills. Service registers are also to be updated to help retired workers receive pension benefits on time.
The corporation said it had initiated steps to provide ₹10 lakh compensation to dependants of Pourakarmikas who died while on duty. Compassionate-appointment cases are to be sent to the Joint Commissioner and Chief Commissioner for approval without delay.
Officials were also asked to arrange free health check-ups, ensure health cards and ESI/PF benefits reach DPS workers, and identify locations for drinking water and Suvidha toilets at mustering centres. Expired toilet-maintenance contracts are to be reviewed.
Union leaders separately sought an increase in marriage assistance for workers’ daughters from ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh, a higher house-construction grant with offline applications, and four uniform sets a year instead of two. These were demands submitted to the Additional Commissioner, not announced changes.
