MYSURU:

Even as the proposed agitation by government doctors over the suicide of Nanjangud Taluk Health Officer Dr Nagendra has been withdrawn following the CM’s intervention, the issue has become a turf war between doctors and officials.

The Mysuru District Panchayat Development Officers Association has taken up the cudgels for ZP CEO Prashant Kumar Mishra, saying that it was not right to drag Mishra’s name into the issue of Dr Nagendra’s suicide.

The association has said that in the context of Covid, the work pressure on all departments is high, including the police and the RDPR and Revenue departments.

‘Revoke transfer’

IAS officer Prashant Kumar Mishra

Referring to Mishra as ‘efficient and honest’, the association has said it is not fair that an honest person is humiliated without any investigation of the case, and has called for his transfer order to be revoked.

Meanwhile, officials allege that routine health work has been affected and that the protesting doctors have not conducted any coronavirus tests, submitted reports or visited Covid Care Centres for the past 3 days.
