AP lads ‘serviced’ rich kids and students of prestigious city colleges.
BENGALURU:
It is a sorry reflection on the rising joblessness in the country that even highly educated youths are turning to crime to earn a livelihood. Following a recent crackdown on an inter-state gang of drug peddlers, it has come to light that those arrested include science and engineering graduates and post-graduates.
The accused have been identified as Harikrishnan, Mohammed, Fibin, Harishankar and Rahul of Andhra Pradesh. All of them are MSc, BSc and Mechanical Engineering students. They were allegedly bringing drugs from Visakhapatnam to sell to children of wealthy families in the city.
To evade the radar of the cops, the drug-peddlers use various modus operandi. The number of drug dealers from different states is increasing day by day, and the narcotics are sold near prestigious colleges in Bengaluru. The Central Crime Branch of the city police has raided various areas of the city where drugs are sold near prestigious colleges, pubs and IT-BT offices.
The CCB police have arrested four intermediaries who allegedly brought drugs from Andhra Pradesh to colleges near KR Puram and Marathahalli. Around Rs. 50 lakh worth of drugs have been seized. A case has been registered at the KR Puram police station.
