Palace Grounds may be turned into Covid hospital

If the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise, open-air hospitals at large public spaces like Palace Grounds, Bangalore International Centre at Tumkur Road, Whitefield,KTPO Convention Center and Kanteerava stadium may be required.

Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar has referred to the possibility of an open-air hospital at the Kanteerava stadium.

At his behest, BBMP officials have identified places like Tripura Vasini at Palace Grounds, Bangalore International Centre and Whitefield KTPO Convention Center.

“Many smaller stadiums are also being considered and the state government has kept all its options open to curb the deadly virus,” said an officer who is closely monitoring the situation.

Till Friday evening, Bengaluru had the fourth highest number of positive cases of 617, out of which 290 are active. The state capital has witnessed 27 Covid deaths since March.
