Within the span of a few days, the Karnataka government has changed the criteria for identifying green, red and orange zones pertaining to the Covid-19 status of the state’s districts.Â
With the fresh criteria, green zones are those where no Covid-19 cases have been reported in the last 28 days. Thus, the number of green zones in the state has reduced from 14 to 13.
However, the number of red zones has gone up to 14, while three districts have been declared orange zones with not a single case reported in the last 14 days but at least one case reported 15 to 28 days ago.
Red zone districts
Bengaluru Urban (87 cases), Mysuru 71, Belagavi 54, Kalaburagi 48, Vijayapura 41, Bagalkot 29, Mandya 18, Bidar 14, Dakshina Kannada 12, Bellary 10, Chikkaballapur 8, Dharwad 8, Gadag 5, Tumkur 1.
Green zone districts
Yadgir, Raichur, Haveri, Koppal, Davangere, Shivamogga, Chitradurga, Chikkamagalu, Hassan, Kodagu, Chamarajnagar, Ramanagar, Kolar.
Orange zone districts
Bengaluru Rural, Uttara Kannada and Udupi.
Revised criteria
Green: No case reported in 28 days.
Orange: No case in last 14 days but at least one case reported 15 to 28 days ago.
Red: At least one case reported in last 14 days.
