KALABURAGI: Launching a scathing attack on the Congress-led government in Karnataka at a public meeting in Kalaburagi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the party came to power after making big promises to the youths, but today they are stopping the scholarship of the same youths and planning to drop the scheme.

“It is the Congress that is committing the sin of killing the rights of the youth. The Congress-led government is in such a situation that it does not have money even for small development projects. Can any government run like this?” Modi questioned.

“There are no development works visible in Karnataka under the Congress government, and there is no money in the government treasury. Funding for projects has been cut off. The Congress implemented its guarantees announced ahead of the Assembly election, but now, they don’t have money for other projects”, Modi lambasted the state government.

Speaking at a BJP workers’ convention, Modi said that the Congress government is not even providing electricity naming the scheme ‘Gruha Jyothi’. “Farmers’ are not getting electricity to run pump sets. Under the PM Kisan scheme, our state government had given Rs 4,000 every month to farmers apart from the Rs 6,000 given by the Centre. But the Congress has cut off the money given by the state government under PM Kisan after coming to power”, he said.

“Congress MLAs themselves are saying that their government has no money. Is there any need for such a government? Whether your dream will come true?” Modi questioned the gathering. “The Congress government knows that it will not come to power again. So it has started looting, are you letting yourselves be looted?” he asked, calling upon the voters to be prepared to change the looters.

“Parents used to hide their illnesses due to financial difficulties as it would be a problem for their children. Therefore, we are providing treatment to all parents by implementing the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. We are providing free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per person. About 80 lakh people have benefited by the scheme so far and they have blessed me. Today, free treatment is means Modi’s guarantee. Earlier, people used to go to faraway places to bring water in rural areas. We have provided tapped water to every house through the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’.  More than 40 lakh LPG cylinders have been given to women to ensure smoke-free kitchens, These are a Modi’s guarantees”, he said.

Prime Minister Modi started his Lok Sabha election campaign from Kalaburagi, last year. This time also, he has started his campaign from Kalaburagi, the home turf of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

PM Modi, appreciating the crowd, said, “Seeing the large crowd of people in Kalaburagi and this enthusiasm on the faces of all of you, I am sure that Karnataka will definitely make the BJP win a record number of seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Today, the whole of Karnataka is saying that this time we will cross 400”.
