Bengaluru, July 16: Bengaluru East City Corporation Additional Commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar directed officials not to make any compromise on the quality of infrastructure works being taken up under CMIDP and CSSIP grants in the KR Pura Assembly constituency.

According to an official media release, the Additional Commissioner chaired a progress review meeting with officials of the Quality Control and Quality Assurance division, project management consultants and works division officials to assess the progress, quality and implementation of pending infrastructure development works in the constituency.

During the meeting, the quality inspection report submitted by the PMC in relation to works already completed and those currently in progress in the KR Pura Assembly constituency was reviewed in detail.

The Additional Commissioner instructed officials to treat every point in the PMC report seriously and to immediately rectify any technical deficiencies found in the works.

The release said road and civil works being executed under CMIDP and CSSIP grants must be mandatorily inspected through the Quality Control division. Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar also directed that the Quality Control division and PMC teams should jointly ensure that every work is completed in accordance with the prescribed technical standards.

Priority was also given to drain desilting and cleanliness in work areas. Officials were instructed to complete 100 per cent desilting of all roadside drains in areas where works are being carried out. They were also told to correct roadside levels and ensure that construction waste is fully cleared from work zones so that the public is provided with a clean and safe environment.

The Additional Commissioner issued clear instructions that asphalt and cement concrete road works should be taken up only after the quality of drains and other civil works is completely inspected and certified. Officials were told to complete all works in accordance with technical standards without compromising on quality.

To prevent repeated road cutting after comprehensive road development works are completed, officials were directed to coordinate with all service-providing agencies, including BESCOM and the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board. The release said that if any department digs up a road for utility works after road development is completed, the concerned department should be issued a notice immediately and action should be taken to restore the road to its original condition.

Engineering officials, contractors, PMC teams and Quality Control division officials were also instructed to carry out site inspections and continuously monitor the quality, progress and safety measures of the works. Necessary safety measures must be followed to ensure that the public is not inconvenienced during execution of the works, the release said.

Officials were further directed to prepare a detailed list of all pending works and draw up an action plan with a clear timeline for each project. They were told to conduct continuous progress reviews to ensure works are completed within the stipulated period and to take immediate action in cases of delay.

The release said Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar gave strict instructions to officials, contractors and PMC teams that there should be no compromise on quality, timelines and public safety in the execution of the works. The Additional Commissioner also asked them to complete development works quickly through coordination among various departments and provide quality infrastructure without causing inconvenience to the public.

The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer of KR Pura zone, all Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, Executive Engineers of the Quality Control and Quality Assurance division, Assistant Executive Engineers and other officials.
