Earlier official residence of Karnataka CM continues to be occupied by Yediyurappa

BENGALURU:

Nearly 3 weeks after he was sworn in as Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai gets a new official residence at Race Course Road in the city. An order with immediate effect was issued on Tuesday.

The CM’s official residence, Quarters No 1, Race View Cottage, on Race Course Road was earlier occupied by Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan.

The order states that the allotment made to Dr Narayan is withdrawn and the quarters are allotted to the Chief Minister.

Bommai’s WFH didn’t work!

Bommai was hitherto operating from his private residence in RT Nagar. However, frequent visits by the public had disturbed the privacy of his family members.

Yediyurappa’s ‘privileges’

The earlier official residence of the Chief Minister continues to be occupied by former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. Bommai, in a gesture of goodwill, has given a cabinet rank to his political ‘guru’ along with all facilities and the official residence. Though Yediyurappa had written to Bommai asking his to withdraw these ‘privileges’, so far no official communication to this effect has been conveyed.
