Nitte institute signs MoU with traffic police for real-time traffic management

BENGALURU: In a significant move to improve traffic in the city, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) has igned a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bengaluru traffic police.

Addressing the gathering Joint Commissioner (Traffic) M N Anuchet said, ā€œBengaluru’s traffic is not just a transportation problem, i’s an economic and environmental one. By investing in technology, partnerships and innovative approaches, we can not only ease congestion, but also boost productivity, reduce pollution, and improve the quality of life for all Bengalureans. This MoU with NMIT is a testament to our commitment to building a smarter, more efficient traffic system for allā€.

Speaking at the event K B Rao, director-corporate relations, said, ā€œThis partnership marks the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship that aims to foster innovation, knowledge exchange and collaborative initiatives between academia and Bengaluru traffic police. The initial focus involves exploring novel approaches, including the utilization of drones and other technologies, for better traffic managementā€.

The initiative seeks to address various critical issues related to monitoring, regulating, identifying traffic law violators and understanding the root causes of traffic congestion. Besides, the partnership will offer internships to students of Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, facilitate the exchange of faculty members, researchers, and professionals. The heads of departments of various engineering streams of the Institute and students were present during the event, a press release said.
