Organise khata melas in untaxed apartments, BBMP chief tells team

BENGALURU:

Khata melas should be organized in apartments which are out of the property tax net, and 20 such apartments should be identified in the city as a pilot project, BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta instructed his team on Saturday.

Addressing a virtual meeting with Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF), he said property tax is the main source of income for BBMP, and steps should be taken to bring untaxed properties into the property tax net.

Decentralised process

The khata-issuing power has been decentralised zonally to ensure a quick khata-issuing process. Every flat in an apartment should possess a khata and revenue officials should take steps to ensure this happens, he said.

Special Commissioner (Revenue) Dr Deepak RL, all zonal, Joint/Deputy Commissioners, Joint Commissioners (Revenue), BAF representatives and others were present in the meeting.
