MG Road Streetlights Found Defunct in Bengaluru Central Inspection; Repairs, Six-Division Report Ordered
Bengaluru: Several streetlights and LED bulbs on both sides of MG Road were found non-functional during an evening inspection by Bengaluru Central City Corporation Additional Commissioner for Development Venkatachalapathi R., prompting directions for immediate repairs and a wider assessment of streetlight functioning across all six divisions of the Corporation.
The inspection was carried out at 7 pm on the directions of Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Jagadish G., following orders from Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda.
During the inspection, Venkatachalapathi observed that several streetlights on both sides of MG Road were not functioning and that LED bulbs had failed. He directed engineers to inspect all defective lights, prepare a list and ensure that they were repaired and made operational immediately.
The Additional Commissioner also ordered a wider inspection of streetlights across the Corporation’s six divisions — Gandhinagar, Chickpet, Chamarajpet, Shantinagar, C.V. Raman Nagar and Shivajinagar.
Officials have been instructed to inspect streetlight functioning from 7 pm until late at night, prepare a list of non-functional lights and submit a report. Venkatachalapathi also directed officials to conduct inspections during the early morning hours.
Streetlight inspections were taken up across the six divisions from 6.30 pm under the leadership of Executive Engineers, with Assistant Executive Engineers and other staff participating in the exercise.
Chief Engineers Vijay Kumar Haridas and Hemalatha, and Superintending Engineer Chandrashekhar were present during the MG Road inspection.
