A worker died at the Namma Metro site on Friday after falling from the escalator at Pattanagere metro station. He was carrying out chipping work for the escalator shaft at the concourse level and fell at the ground.
The incident took place at around 11am. 56-year-old skilled worker from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh was working with ILFS, during shipping work for escalator shaft well done at the ground level, Metro stated in a press note released on Friday evening.
He was immediately shifted to the hospital and later to Victoria Hospital where he was declared dead. The contractor has filed a complaint Kengeri police station.

Metro official said that the contractor has contacted the family has taken all steps to complete the necessary formalities and provide support to next of kin.
