Karnataka DyCM says students’ satellite project is part of 75th I-Day celebrations
BENGALURU:
The Government Boys’ High School, housed in the Stone Building College at 18th Cross, Malleswaram, will become the first government high school in the country to launch a satellite, DyCM CN Ashwath Narayan, who is also MLA of the constituency, said on Thursday.
Presiding over an event at Mattikere Model Primary School where laptops were donated to government schools in Malleswaram by the Seshadripuram Educational Trust, the DyCM said the students of the high school will be involved in a programme of launching 75 satellites as part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations next year.
Usually, engineering students are involved in such projects. Now, this will be done by school students with help from the Indian Technological Congress Association and ISRO, he said, and added that the project would involve students of a few other government schools.
‘Improve teaching’
Noting that enrolments in government schools in Malleswaram have increased from 2,221 to 2,743, Narayan said this should be matched by achieving high standards in teaching-learning.
