New Delhi/Bengaluru: Amid swirling speculation about possible leadership changes in Karnataka, including a reshuffle in the cabinet and the post of KPCC President, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday reiterated that all decisions lie with the Congress high command, but stopped short of clarifying who exactly constitutes the “high command” — a statement that has sparked fresh political curiosity.
Speaking to reporters, Kharge said, “Whether it is a change in leadership, cabinet reshuffle, or KPCC President — all decisions are in the hands of the high command. No one knows what the decision will be. Surjewala will submit a report, and then the high command will take a decision. There’s no need to unnecessarily create problems now.”
He further added, “I will not respond to every leader’s statement or counter Rajanna’s comments. I will only speak about matters being handled at the AICC level. If someone says something locally, we cannot react to everything. Let Surjewala report to the high command, and they will brief us. We will then see what steps to take.”
While Kharge’s comments sought to maintain party discipline, they also raised an underlying question: If not the AICC President himself, then who exactly is the high command of the Congress?
This ambiguity has once again highlighted the Congress’s opaque decision-making process and triggered debate within party circles about the functioning and clarity of its leadership chain.
