Bengaluru: A tragic high-speed road accident in Sanjay Nagar claimed the life of a 61-year-old senior advocate, while leaving two others seriously injured on Wednesday evening. The Sanjay Nagar Traffic Police have registered a case against an 18-year-old driver for rash and negligent driving.

The fatal incident occurred around 7:28 pm near RMV Club, when a car speeding from the Devasandra Signal side lost control and ploughed into multiple victims and vehicles.

According to police, the car first rammed into advocate Ramachandra Reddy N (61) as he was attempting to cross the road. The impact was so severe that the victim was thrown aside, but the vehicle did not stop.

Moments later, the same car collided with a Dio scooter, injuring Bharath (19), who was riding the two-wheeler, and Swathi (23), the pillion rider. Both were thrown onto the road surface and sustained multiple injuries.

The vehicle finally came to a halt after crashing into two parked cars, including one belonging to the complainant.

Ramachandra Reddy was rushed to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Bharath and Swathi were shifted to Shirdi Sai Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

The accused driver, identified as Shishira Patil (18), sustained minor injuries due to shattered glass during the collision. Preliminary investigations indicate that overspeeding and reckless driving led to the fatal chain reaction.

Police said all vehicles involved suffered extensive damage, and further investigation is underway.
