Bengaluru: Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy alleged that a separate wing had been set up under D.K. Shivakumar’s administration to conduct surveillance and sting operations on others.
In a statement shared by Janata Dal (Secular) on October 13, Kumaraswamy questioned whether power could be exercised through such tactics and urged people across Karnataka to be alert to what he described as a conspiracy.

He said such actions had not been necessary during Siddaramaiah’s earlier eight years in office, or during the 20 months in which he himself had run the government.
Kumaraswamy alleged that the arrangement under Shivakumar was different and warned that even a former chief minister could be made a scapegoat.
The charge about a separate surveillance and sting wing was Kumaraswamy’s allegation; the post did not provide details establishing the existence or functioning of such a unit.
