BENGALURU:

The government of Karnataka’s Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department has been awarded the ISC-FICCI ‘Best Communication in Sanitation 2021’ award.

The department runs a variety of water and sanitation programmes to raise awareness among people in rural areas. Various initiatives taken by and information about the department are accessible to the public via social media.

The whole communication strategy for rural sanitation was devised and implemented by Principal Secretary, RDPR, LK Atheeq and the then Commissioner of rural drinking water supply Dr R Vishal, who has recently been transferred and posted as Commissioner of Public Instruction.

The Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department is working towards providing information to people about the department’s projects through a variety of dynamic activities such as cleanliness news, impact stories, theme videos and more.

The department has been honoured with the ISC-FICCI 2021 ‘Best Communication in Sanitation’ award in the category of ‘Digital Communication’.

Dr Prakash Kumar HS, Commissioner, Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, received the award on behalf of the department and said the award wouldmotivate the department to work harder in creating public awareness through various channels.
