Bidar reports death; 16 Dubai returnees infected
State sees highest single-day spike of 69 cases

Pandemic spikes are made to be broken, as was the case when Karnataka saw the highest single-day count of 69 positive cases. Friday also reported a death from Bidar district.
The state’s Covid tally has crossed the thousand mark with 1,056, of which 539 are active cases, 11 are in ICUs and 480 have been discharged.
As per the health bulletin, “P-1041, 52 years, male resident of Chitaguppa town in Bidar, with travel history to Hyderabad and infected with SARI, died on 12.05.2020 at designated hospital, Bidar. Tested positive for Covid-19 on 15-05-2020.”
Friday’s cases included 16 from Dakshina Kannada district who had returned from Dubai recently under the Vande Bharat repatriation programme. As many as 13 cases each were detected in Bengaluru Urban and Mandya district, followed by Udupi (5), Chitradurga (2), Bidar (7), Hassan (7), Kalaburagi (3), and Bagalkot, Shivamogga and Kolar with one each.
