BENGALURU:

The state government will appoint 700 lab technicians and an equal number of data entry operators to ramp up testing for Covid, said Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar on Friday.

The extra staff are for Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), and they will have a 6-month tenure.

A total of 13,50,792 samples have been tested so far, with 36,936 on Friday.

The minister tweeted that stringent action will be taken against private hospitals which do not cooperate with ‘arogyamithras’ (nodal officers) on bed availability.
