Karnataka government on Monday officially notified Vijayanagar as the 31st district.
As per the notification, Hospete will be its new district headquarters.
New Vijaynagar district is constituted by bifurcating earlier Ballari district which will consist of six talukas namely Hosapete, Kudligi, Hagari Bommanhalli, Kottur, Hoovina Hadagali and Harappanahalli talukas.
Minister Sriramulu also welcomed the decision and said that it is good for future development of the region.
