Karnataka Legislature Delegation Presents ‘A Brochure on Karnataka’ to South African Speaker Thoko Didiza at 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference
Bengaluru: A Karnataka Legislature delegation presented a special publication titled ‘A Brochure on Karnataka’ to Thoko Didiza, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of South Africa, during the inaugural programme of the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) being held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in South Africa.
The Karnataka delegation was led by Legislative Assembly Speaker G.S. Patil and Legislative Council Chairman Saleem Ahmed.
The brochure has been prepared to introduce international delegates to Karnataka’s parliamentary traditions, governance system, cultural heritage and development achievements. It was presented to the South African Parliament on behalf of the Karnataka Legislature as a gesture of parliamentary friendship and goodwill.
The 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference is being held under the theme, ‘Strengthening International Law and Parliamentary Democracy in a Changing World Order: Commonwealth Leadership’.
More than 800 delegates, including Speakers, Presiding Officers and parliamentarians from nine geographical regions of the Commonwealth, are participating in the conference, according to the information provided by the Karnataka Legislature.
The Karnataka delegation has also participated in workshops and discussions held as part of the conference on inter-parliamentary issues, the economy and trade, the use of artificial intelligence, human rights, peacebuilding, climate change and parliamentary leadership in strengthening resilience.
The conference provides a platform for legislators and presiding officers from across the Commonwealth to exchange perspectives on parliamentary democracy and contemporary challenges, while the Karnataka delegation is using its participation to showcase the state’s legislative traditions and governance experience before an international audience.
