Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Health Minister, Dinesh Gundu Rao, addressed concerns regarding the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the state, reassuring the public that the government is well-prepared for any potential challenges.
Minister Rao emphasized that the recent COVID-19-related fatalities were not solely attributable to the virus itself, but were primarily associated with pre-existing health conditions.
He stated, “The current COVID-19 infections are generally mild and do not pose a serious threat. However, we remain vigilant and have taken comprehensive measures to ensure our readiness for any eventuality. Our healthcare infrastructure—including oxygen supplies, hospital beds, and ventilators—is being continuously updated to guarantee that we can respond effectively in an emergency.”
He urged the public to stay calm, saying, “At this moment, there is no reason for panic. It is essential to maintain basic hygiene practices. I particularly advise individuals who are immunocompromised or have low immunity to wear masks when in public settings.”
The Health Minister’s message underscores the importance of preparedness and public health measures in navigating the ongoing pandemic.
