Bengaluru, March 25: The government has taken note of false rumors circulating on social media and in the media regarding a shortage of petrol and diesel in the state. These rumors have caused public panic, leading many to queue at petrol stations with bottles and cans to stock up on fuel. In response, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs has issued a clarification.
The government assures that there is ample supply available, with the central government ensuring a smooth supply of petrol and diesel to retail outlets. There is no shortage whatsoever.
Officials have urged the public not to believe these rumors, emphasizing that the news of a fuel shortage is unfounded and that there is no need for unnecessary panic.
Safety Warning: Retail outlets are permitted to directly supply fuel only to vehicle fuel tanks. Filling fuel into cans or bottles is prohibited and poses significant safety risks, potentially leading to accidents.
Strict Instructions: Petrol stations have been directed to fill fuel only into vehicle tanks and not to dispense fuel into bottles or separate containers.
Nagaraj B.E., the government’s Under Secretary for the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, has requested the public to cooperate and refrain from hoarding fuel beyond their needs, which only creates unnecessary anxiety.
