Karnataka Government Approves Full-Scale Resumption of Jungle Safari at Bandipur and Nagarahole Tiger Reserves
Bengaluru, June 26: The Karnataka government has decided to fully resume jungle safari operations at the Bandipur and Nagarahole Tiger Reserves following the recommendations of a technical committee comprising experts and government officials.
According to a media release issued by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s Office, the government has accepted the committee’s report, which recommended the resumption of safari operations after a scientific assessment of the parks’ effective carrying capacity.
The report concluded that jungle safari activities could be conducted in a regulated manner without compromising the ecological balance of the protected areas. Based on these recommendations, the government has given the green signal for the full-scale resumption of safari operations in both tiger reserves.
The government said Karnataka has immense potential in eco-tourism and has consistently promoted sustainable tourism practices. The resumption of jungle safaris is expected to generate employment and livelihood opportunities for local communities while contributing to the regional economy.
The Chief Minister’s Office stated that the government remains committed to promoting responsible eco-tourism that protects the integrity of the ecosystem while supporting wildlife conservation, improving the livelihoods of local communities, and enhancing visitors’ experience.
