Bengaluru: The Karnataka Commercial Taxes Department has flagged serious complaints involving bribe demands by officers and staff in connection with UPI-linked issues, as well as reports of unauthorized middlemen extorting money from traders under the guise of offering help.
In a press release, the department stated it has a zero-tolerance approach toward corruption and will take strict disciplinary action against any officer or staff member found to be engaging in illegal or unethical practices.
To streamline grievance redressal, the department has activated a dedicated toll-free helpline — 1800 425 6300 — available from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on all working days. Traders are strongly encouraged to use this number to report any form of harassment or bribery by tax authorities or middlemen.
