Bommai’s Wednesday invite aims at winning BJP legislators’ confidence for smooth running of Karnataka govt
BENGALURU:
In a ‘charm offensive’ aimed at his own flock, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will host a dinner meeting with fellow-BJP legislators on Wednesday after the conclusion of the monsoon session of the state legislature.
According to sources in the CMO, the dinner meeting will take place at Bommai’s official residence, Race View Cottage, at 7 pm on Wednesday.
Postponed earlier
In fact, the dinner meeting with BJP legislators was planned even before the monsoon session started on September 16 , but had to be deferred due to the demise of the Chief Minister’s close friend, Raju Patil, in Hubballi.

The ‘dinner diplomacy’ is clearly meant to bring all BJP legislators on the same page and win their confidence in running the government smoothly. Sources say this is the first time that a dinner meeting has been hosted after Bommai became Chief Minister.
All the legislators, including MLCs, have been invited to the dinner meeting, which comes at a time when there are still undercurrents of dissatisfaction within the BJP camp.
