BENGALURU: The Chief Minister of Karnataka, other cabinet members and top police officials, recently received a bomb threat via email demanding a staggering Rs 20.85 crore.
After the explosion at Rameswaram cafe, reports surfaced regarding a threatening email sent to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Home Minister. The email warned of potential bomb detonations in various public areas, such as buses, trains, temples, and hotels. The sender, who remains unidentified, demanded a hefty sum of 2.5 million dollars, equivalent to Rs 20.85 crore at today’s exchange rate of 82.90 USD.
The threatening email was also directed to the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner and other high-ranking IPS officers. It originated from the email address 10786progon@gmail.com and was signed by someone named Shahid Khan. The explosive nature of the threat was detailed in the police’s FIR report.
An FIR was promptly filed at the cybercrime station on March 4, initiating an ongoing investigation. The Cyber Police are diligently working to uncover the identity of the perpetrator behind the threatening emails and extortion demands.
The email specifically mentioned the planting of bombs in buses, trains, temples, hotels, and public areas, including Ambari Utsav buses. Authorities are taking the threat seriously and actively pursuing leads to ensure the safety and security of the public.
