BENGALURU:
BP Singh (Bharat Prasad Singh), the 1964 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IPS officer, passed away at 83 in Bengaluru. Singh played a vital role in eradicating dacoits in the Chambal region.
He was the father of 1989 batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer Rakesh Singh.
Singh, a native of the Bihar district of Munger, is survived by his two sons, Mukesh Singh and Rakesh Singh, and a daughter.
He served as SSP in Varanasi, Agra, and Aligarh. He also served as DIG in Gorakhpur.
