BENGALURU: The Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar, has recently been under the spotlight due to his stance on Hindutva. Despite the intense scrutiny, it is important to note that DK Shivakumar has made it clear that he has no intentions of joining the Bharatiya Janata Party and will remain loyal to the Congress.
In recent days, Shivakumar has made public statements reaffirming his commitment to the Congress party and denying any connections with BJP leaders.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka gained attention for his participation in the Shiv Ratri program organized by the Isha Foundation, where he shared the stage with the country’s Home Minister and top BJP leader, Amit Shah.

Shivakumar has faced criticism from within his own party, with Minister Rajanna questioning his decision to share the stage with the spiritual leader of the Isha Foundation, who had previously made disparaging remarks about Rahul Gandhi.
Following the statements from Congress leaders, the BJP has not remained silent. Opposition leader R Ashoka, known for his political acumen, has drawn comparisons between Shivakumar and Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Shinde, who had previously rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena to form an alliance with the BJP, eventually becoming Chief Minister.
In a puzzling display of support for Ashoka’s questionable behavior, another BJP leader, Ashwath Narayan, has also thrown his hat into the ring. The BJP State President, BY Vijayendra, who happens to be the son of Yediyurappa, a former Chief Minister of Karnataka, should step in and take charge of the situation. He has been vocal about the fast-paced political developments unfolding.
These BJP leaders appear to be lost in a fantasy world, akin to Mungerilal, entertaining the idea that DK Shivakumar will defect from Congress and join their ranks. However, the likelihood of Shivkumar making such a move is slim, as leaders in Delhi have not even entertained the thought. This highlights a lack of clear direction among BJP leaders in Karnataka, with some engaging in mere speculation and empty rhetoric.
What Rahul Gandhi should learn from DK Shivakumar
When we look at DK Shivakumar’s Hinduism, it becomes clear that Congress leaders in Delhi, especially Rahul Gandhi, should learn that without the votes of Hindus, they have no existence. The time has come for the Congress party to rectify the mistakes it has made over the past seventy years. If Shivakumar’s participation in the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj and other Hindu religious events indicates that he needs the votes of Hindus, not just a particular community. It is time for the Congress party to acknowledge this reality and make necessary changes to appeal to the Hindu voters.
Shivakumar needs Siddaramaiah’s support to become CM!
Although Shivakumar himself believes that if he joins the BJP, he will not be made the chief minister, and his dream of becoming chief minister can be fulfilled by staying in the Congress.
Today, even though Shivakumar is the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, he has not received the support of all 138 legislators to become the chief minister. He knows that without the help of Siddaramaiah, he cannot become the chief minister. Despite his efforts to attract his party’s legislators to his camp, he is not succeeding.
