BENGALURU:

The opposition JDS plans to protest against recent anti-farmer amendments passed by the state government and will also write to the governor on this and other issues.

Addressing a presser on Friday, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda said party MLAs, defeated candidates and district presidents would meet at the party office, JP Bhavan, on August 4 to discuss the details of the protest in the context of the pandemic.

Gowda said the party would draw the Governor’s attention to the fact that the state government was not calling a session of the legislature.

Referring to the controversy over the mention of Tipu Sultan in school textbooks, Gowda pointed out that there are many residential schools in Karnataka that are named after Tipu Sultan.
