Illegal Encroachments Worth ₹34.08 Crore Cleared in Bengaluru Under DC J Jagadeesh’s Supervision
Bengaluru: In a major crackdown on illegal land encroachments, the Bengaluru Urban District Administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner J. Jagadeesh, cleared government land worth an estimated ₹34.08 crore. The total reclaimed area spans 11 acres and 8 guntas across multiple taluks of Bengaluru Urban district.
District-level teams led by respective Tehsildars carried out anti-encroachment drives at various locations including lakes, government maternity hospitals, and public land parcels, reclaiming them for government use.
Major recoveries include:
- Begur Hobli, Bengaluru South Taluk: 2 guntas of encroached land (Survey No. 75, Mailasandra village) cleared, valued at ₹0.50 lakh.
- Hesaraghatta-1 Hobli, Yelahanka Taluk: 4 guntas of land at a government maternity hospital in Hesaraghatta village (Survey No. 252), valued at ₹0.40 lakh, was freed.
- Hesaraghatta-2 Hobli, Yelahanka Taluk: A major encroachment of 11 acres of government lake land in Kakolu village (Survey No. 44), valued at ₹33 crore, was cleared.
- Yelahanka Hobli: 2 guntas of government rocky terrain in Thirumenahalli village (Survey No. 32), valued at ₹0.18 lakh, reclaimed.
The DC’s office staff and tehsildars from the respective taluks were present during the eviction drives.
Officials reiterated the commitment to continue such operations to reclaim encroached government properties and protect public assets from illegal occupation.
