Hidden Truth Behind IPL Tickets: Bengaluru CCB’s Sting Operation Exposes Illicit Activities

Date:

BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police in Bengaluru have made a significant breakthrough in cracking down on illegal activities surrounding the IPL matches. In a recent sting operation, the CCB arrested eight individuals for selling tickets to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) match on the black market. These individuals were caught red-handed and have been handed over to the Cubbon Park police for further investigation.

There are suspicions that officials from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) may be involved in supplying tickets to these black marketeers, who are selling them at exorbitant prices. This has caused frustration among fans who struggle to purchase tickets online due to them selling out within minutes of being released.

The CCB is now delving deeper into the origins of these black market tickets and is determined to uncover the masterminds behind this illicit operation.

Furthermore, the Crime Branch and Bengaluru City Police have apprehended three key figures involved in live betting during the RCB versus Delhi Capitals match held inside the stadium. The accused, Dhruv Mittal from Rajasthan, Rohit Ranjan, and Vijay Kumar from Jakkur, were caught in the act.

Dhruv Mittal was found to be operating betting apps and had a substantial amount of Rs 75 lakh in his possession, with Rs 63 lakh in the app wallet and Rs 13 lakh in his bank account. Rohit Ranjan was actively engaging in ball-to-ball betting from within the stadium, providing real-time updates to his associates moments before they were broadcast on TV.

Vijay Kumar was also operating a betting app and had Rs 10 lakh in his wallet. The CCB has seized a total of Rs 85 lakh from the three accused and has initiated further investigations into this matter.
