3, including TN-based Nigerian drug trafficker, arrested
BENGALURU:
Based on specific intelligence, officers of the Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU) and the Special Intelligence and Investigation Branch (SIIB), Bengaluru Airport and Air Cargo Commissionerate, intercepted two shipments of contraband narcotics in the International Courier Terminal that had arrived from Zambia and Belgium.
On February 14, two persons who came to claim the two shipments were intercepted. Examination of the shipments revealed the concealment of 1.002 kg of heroin (street price of Rs 7 crore) and 4.581 kg (9,403 pills) of Ecstasy (MDMA) pills (street price of Rs 2.82 crore) as per the trace detector report. The contraband was seized on February under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The two persons were arrested and produced before the NDPS court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

Further follow-up action with the assistance of the Commissioner of Customs, Trichy, and team led to the arrest of a Nigerian national presently residing in Erode, Tamil Nadu, who was facilitating the import of the narcotics. The Nigerian national was arrested on February 19, produced before the NDPS court, and remanded to judicial custody.
