BENGALURU:
The Karnataka High Court has issued a notice to the state government and BBMP on the matter of property tax exemption during the ongoing pandemic crisis.
A PIL by K Gurudatta, a Banashankari resident, was heard by Chief Justice Abhay Shreenivas Oka and Justice Ashok S Kinagi.
In his petition, Gurudatta said the Centre and other state governments had extended various reliefs to the public during the Covid crisis. But the Karnataka government had not given any relief to owners of residential and commercial buildings.
As tenants were not in a position to pay rent during the lockdown, owners too had found it difficult to pay property tax, he claimed.
