Gaurav Gupta now has sole charge as BBMP Chief Commissioner
Amended GO relieves Gupta of concurrent Commerce and Industries charge
BENGALURU:
In a development that could be read as an acknowledgement of the onerous task before him as BBMP Chief Commissioner, especially in the context of the new Covid-19 surge in Bengaluru, the state government has transferred and relieved IAS officer Gaurav Gupta from his charge as ACS, Commerce and Industries Department.
As per the earlier order of March 31, 2021, Gupta was appointed BBMP Chief Commissioner with concurrent charge of the Commerce and Industries Department.
The corrected order, with the Governor’s concurrence, was issued on Saturday and states: “The words and sentences in Government Notification No. e-DPAR 149 SAS 2021, dated 31.3.2021 in respect of transfer of Sri Gaurav Gupta, IAS (KN:1990) stand corrected as follows:
“Sri Gaurav Gupta, IAS (KN:1990), Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Commerce and Industries Department, is transferred with immediate effect and posted until further orders as Chief Commissioner, BBMP, Bengaluru vice Sri N Manjunatha Prasad, IAS, transferred.”
Meanwhile, the state government has appointed 1998 batch IAS officer Dr Rajkumar Khatri as additional chief secretary of Commerce and Industries department while he is also placed in concurrent charge of Agriculture department’s additional chief secretary.
